UIA Vol 38 Released: New Special Edition Focuses on Patient Safety in Anaesthesiology

Special UIA edition on anaesthesia safety launched in collaboration with Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF)

WFSA is thrilled to announce the launch of a special edition of the Update in Anaesthesia (UIA), dedicated entirely to patient safety in anaesthesiology. This landmark edition covers a wide range of critical topics, including:

This comprehensive issue was made possible through the collaboration of members of the UIA editorial board, the WFSA CEO, the WFSA Secretariat, and the invaluable support of the Anaesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF). The initiative for the UIA Safety Edition project was spearheaded by Dr. Bala Bhaskar and Dr. Mark Warner, with Warner serving as a mentor and guiding force throughout the development of this edition. Dr. Mark Warner, an anaesthesiologist of exceptional renown and past president of the APSF, has played a pivotal role in shaping the content and focus of this publication.

Guest authors from around the world have generously contributed their insights and research on various aspects of patient safety in anaesthesia, making this edition a global effort. Additionally, Dr. Erlinda Oracion and Dr. Airton Bagitini, members of the WFSA Safety and Quality of Practice Committee, have offered their expertise to ensure the edition’s relevance and rigour.

The special edition aims to highlight the importance of patient safety across all areas of anaesthesia practice. WFSA is set to launch this new edition at the upcoming World Congress of Anaesthesiologists (WCA), with a special event at the WFSA Hub at 10:30 am on Day 3, March 6th.

WFSA expresses its deepest gratitude to the APSF for its support and collaboration in bringing this project to fruition.
