What are fellowships?

Fellowships are undertaken by trained anaesthesia providers who want to develop their careers by specialising or sub-specialising. The WFSA offers its Fellowships to anaesthesiologists from low and middle-income countries to increase their skillset and become leaders for anaesthesia once they return to their home countries.

WFSA fellowships have a lasting impact both on the skills and professional development of the individuals but also their colleagues and patients back home. Find out more about this impact from Fellowship testimonies.

Beginning with 3 fellows in 1996, in 25 years the programme has grown to over 400 fellows trained in 62 countries across 8 clinical subspecialties, research and medical education / simulation.
