Regional Congresses
As well as the World Congress of Anaesthesiologists, a number of Regional Congresses take place with the support of the Regional Sections of WFSA. These are listed below. Full listings of other meetings and events can be found on our Calendar of Events.
Asia Australasia – AARS
The Asian Australasian Congress of Anaesthesiologists (AACA) has usually been held every four years. The 17th congress will take place 6-8 February 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand in collaboration with the Royal College of Anesthesiologists of Thailand’s 103rd Annual Scientific Meeting. Africa – ARS
The 9th All Africa Anaesthesia Congress took place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on 16-19 September, 2024. The next congress will be organised in Tanzania in 2027.
Central and South America – CLASA
The 2025 CLASA congress was held in Cancun, Mexico on 21-24 May. Information available at Congreso CLASA.
Europe – ESAIC
Euroanaesthesia 2026 will be held in Rotterdam, Netherlands from 6-8 June. Information available at Euroanaesthesia 2026.
Pan Arab – PAFSA
The 2025 PAFSA conference was held on 21-22 June in Dubai, UAE. More information at Pan Arab Anaesthesia Conference (PAAC) 2025
SAARC-AA
SAARC stands for the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, and is a grouping of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and, most recently, Afghanistan. The 2024 SAARC-AA regional congress scheduled for December in Dhaka, Bangladesh sadly had to be cancelled.
Canada – Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society (CAS)*
The CAS Annual Meeting for 2025 was held in St John’s Newfoundland on 20-22 June. The next meeting is scheduled for 5-7 June 2026 in Ottawa, Ontario. Information available at CAS Annual Meeting | Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society.
USA – American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA)*
The ANESTHESIOLOGY 2025 annual meeting was held in San Antonio, Texas on 10-14 October. The next annual meeting is scheduled for 16-20 October 2026 in San Diego, California. Information available at https://www.asahq.org/annualmeeting.
*There is no WFSA Regional Section for ‘North America’, however, the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society (CAS) work closely together as a region. Both societies organise annual scientific meetings.
