About AOLC

The Anaesthesiology Online Learning Community (AOLC) is the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists’ (WFSA) global hub for open-access anaesthesia education. It brings together curated resources, structured e-learning and a collaborative community in one place, connecting anaesthesia practitioners and educators around the world.

Our mission is to advance patient safety and the quality of care by delivering relevant, high-quality education to every anaesthesia professional, wherever they are, and whatever resources they have available. Everything on the AOLC is free and open access, and a single AOLC account works across all of it.

What you will find

The AOLC connects the WFSA’s education offering under one roof. The Virtual Library gathers clinical guidelines, journal articles, tutorials, podcasts (coming soon) and recorded webinars, all reviewed by WFSA experts. The E-Learning Platform offers self-paced courses with assessments and certificates — including the SAFE programmes — designed to work on any device and on limited bandwidth. Alongside these sit our long-running Anaesthesia Tutorial of the Week and the Update in Anaesthesia journal, both written with low-resource settings in mind, and a programme of live webinars with international faculty, all recorded and added to the library afterwards.

How the AOLC is run

The AOLC is led by two Joint Editors-in-Chief, Dr Gita Nath and Prof Rakesh Garg, supported by an international Steering Group that provides strategic oversight and keeps the platform aligned with the WFSA’s mission. Content is developed both in-house and through partnerships with organisations that share our commitment to safe anaesthesia and global health.
