World Anaesthesia Day on the 16 October highlights the importance of prioritising the well-being of the anaesthesia workforce
World Anaesthesia Day (WAD) brings together the global anaesthesia community to celebrate the advancements in anaesthesia and address some of the challenges they face in providing safe and affordable care to the communities they serve.
The health and well-being of the anaesthesiology workforce globally is integral to patient safety and health outcomes of the communities we serve. However, the toll of long hours, intense stress, and the critical nature of their work can lead to burnout and other well-being challenges. There is an urgent and ongoing need to ensure that those who care for patients are themselves cared for.
WAD2024 will provide an opportunity to emphasise the importance of supporting the mental, emotional, and physical health of anaesthesia professionals globally.
The day will build and consolidate on the learning and sharing that has been achieved throughout the year through the WFSA 2024 Annual Theme activities which has also been focusing on workforce well-being.
WFSA will be hosting a series of online events across the day including live Yoga sessions and a special WAD2024 Well-being webinar bringing together experts in mental health support, strategies to prevent burnout, and the importance of work-life balance.
