  • Review archival materials and produce an up-to-date bibliography.
  • Provide advice on archival procedures and processes for the organisation.
  • Oversee the updating of WFSA’s history from 2005 to 2030, working with past and present leadership to form the basis of a 75th-anniversary publication.

Specific Tasks

  • Develop and maintain an authoritative record of events, policies, and major developments related to WFSA.
  • Advise the governance team and CEO on the collection and preservation of historically significant records.
  • Set up and lead a working group to write WFSA’s history from 2005 to 2030.
  • Prepare ad hoc histories of specific episodes, trends, or policies important to understanding WFSA’s work.
  • Progress the oral history programme, including conducting interviews with past and present leadership.
  • WFSA seeks someone with a strong interest in medical history, preferably anaesthesiology, experience writing for medical and lay audiences, and knowledge of the organisation.

Applications, including a CV and a maximum 2-page covering letter, are accepted on a rolling basis, with interviews to take place virtually in late 2025/early 2026.
