WFSA calls for creative 30-second videos showcasing how anaesthesiologists support patients before, during and beyond surgery. Submit by 30 September 2026 for the chance to win prizes including free World Congress of Anaesthesiologists(WCA) 2028 registration.
Tell the Story in 30 Seconds
To celebrate WAD2026, WFSA is inviting anaesthesiologists around the world to take part in the WAD2026 Video Byte Contest.
We want you to show us what anaesthesiology looks like before, during or beyond surgery.
In no more than 30 seconds, create a video that captures the role, contribution or impact of anaesthesiologists along the patient pathway. Show us a moment from clinical practice, tell a story, share a perspective or surprise us with your creativity.
World Anaesthesia Day (WAD), celebrated every year on 16 October, brings together the global anaesthesia community to celebrate the contribution of anaesthesiologists and raise awareness of the importance of safe, affordable and equitable anaesthesia care.
In 2026, World Anaesthesia Day will reflect the WFSA Presidential Theme 2026–2028: Anaesthesiology Along the Patient Pathway.
The theme recognises that anaesthesiologists contribute to patient care at every stage of the journey, from emergency and preoperative care to anaesthesia and surgery, intensive care, pain management, recovery and beyond.
What Could You Show?
Your video could explore how anaesthesiologists contribute to:
- Preoperative assessment and optimisation
- Emergency and prehospital care
- Safe anaesthesia and surgery
- Patient safety and perioperative care
- Intensive and critical care
- Acute and chronic pain management
- Non-operating room anaesthesia
- Recovery and rehabilitation
- Palliative and end-of-life care
- Or any other part of the patient pathway
You don’t need to cover everything. Choose one idea and make your 30 seconds count.
Video Requirements
- Maximum duration: 30 seconds
- Vertical format (9:16) is preferred
- MP4 or MOV format
- 1080p resolution preferred
- Maximum file size: 200 MB
- Speech, narration, captions, music, animation, graphics and other creative elements are welcome
- Videos may be submitted in English or a local language
- English subtitles are recommended for videos in languages other than English
- One entry per participant
- The video must be original work
Patient Privacy and Consent
Patient confidentiality and dignity must be maintained at all times.
If patients or other identifiable individuals appear in your video, you must obtain appropriate consent for recording and use of the footage. Patient records, hospital numbers and other confidential information must not be visible or audible.
All content should be respectful, professionally appropriate and patient-centred.
Prizes and Recognition
One best video will receive a free registration to WCA 2028.
Five best videos will be selected for screening at the WFSA Hub during WCA2028 in Vancouver, Canada.
Videos will be judged on:
- Alignment with the theme: 30%
- Creativity and originality: 25%
- Impact and strength of the message: 25%
- Clarity and audience engagement: 20%
