WFSA’s 2025 Annual Theme highlights the essential role of anaesthesiologists in health emergencies and critical care. This webinar is part of a series of activities to celebrate the theme.
The WFSA Intensive & Critical Care Medicine (ICCM) Committee is leading the organisation of this webinar, which will highlight the vital contributions of anaesthesiologists in disaster management and critical care scenarios.

– Talk 1: Disaster management in LMICs: challenges and possible solutions by Prof. Kemalettin Koltka
– Talk 2: Ensuring patient safety and healthcare resources in a conflict zone by Prof. Patricia Yazbeck
– Talk 3: The WHO surgical safety checklist and efficiency of cognitive aids in war affected settings by Prof. Kateryna Bielke

INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES:
1. Understand the challenges faced by anaesthesiologists in disaster management in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and explore possible solutions.
2. Gain insights into ensuring patient safety and optimizing healthcare resources in conflict zones, focusing on the role of anaesthesiologists.
3. Evaluate the effectiveness of the WHO surgical safety checklist and other cognitive aids in improving surgical outcomes in war-affected settings.
