Complications associated with tracheal intubation in critically ill patients remain high, with hypotension being the most common. The goal of this talk is to understand the challenges associated with emergency tracheal intubation in critically ill patients who often present with a physiologically difficult airway and to discuss optimisation strategies as well as controversies in this area.
