Speaker Biographies

Carolina Haylock-Loor works as an anaesthesiologist, intensivist and interventional pain physician in San Pedro Sula, Honduras and is a past President of Honduran Anesthesia Society. She has represented the Latin American region on the WFSA Council since 2018 and is Chair of the WFSA DEI Committee. Since 2020 she has also served as the Director of Programmes on the WFSA Board. Carolina is particularly passionate about education and has taught trainees on the Honduran Anesthesiology Residency Programme in Pain Management as well as promoted courses such as EPM (Essential Pain Management), SAFE Obstetrics and Paediatrics, VAST (Vital Anaesthesia Simulation Training) and PTC (Primary Trauma Care).

Bertille Ki is the Head of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Department at Centre Hospitalier Universitaire pédiatrique Charles de Gaulle in Burkina Faso. Bertille is a prominent champion of female anaesthesiologists across West Africa and has worked with leading NGOs such as Kids OR and Lifebox on anaesthesia improvement and educational projects.

Jannicke Mellin-Olsen is a Past President of the WFSA and an anaesthesiologist at Baerum Hospital in Norway. She was the president of the European Board of Anaesthesiologists (the only female in this position) and a driving force behind the development and adoption of the Helsinki Declaration on Patient Safety in Anaesthesiology. Jannicke holds the Knight 1st Class of the Order of St. Olav, the highest civilian honour currently conferred by Norway in recognition of her services to healthcare. Jannicke was the first female medical doctor in Norway to complete military service, which she did in South Lebanon with the UN forces.

Sheila Nainan Myatra is working as a Consultantin the Department of Anaesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain at the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai since 20 years. She is a Professor of Critical Care at the Homi Bhabha National Institute University. She is the President of the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM). She Chairs the Intensive & Critical Care Medicine Committee of WFSA. She is the immediate Past President and founder member of the All India Difficult Airway Association (AIDAA) and the Chancellor of the Indian College of Critical Care Medicine.
